Xiaomi To Open Flash Sale of Mi3 on Flipkart with new Redmi 1s Too

Chinese firm Xiaomi has read the pulse of an Indian mobile consumer so thoroughly that every Tuesday, it is getting into free publicity with its online "Flash Sale" of Mi3s. Now another lot of its latest Redmi 1s, priced at half the rate of Mi3s, will be added.

Tomorrow, Tuesday August 26, 2014, will see another Xiaomi day of "Flash Sale" online with its next batch of 20,000 Mi3s and already 100,000 buyers have registered and waiting for sale to open.

As is the case every Tuesday, the fresh lot of 20,000 Mi3s will go on sale on Flipkart on Tuesday at 2 PM, following which those who could not press the "BUY" button in less than 2 seconds will have to register again in the registrations window for the next Tuesday’s sale.

So far, Xiaomi has sold 80,000 units of its Mi3 smartphones since its launch on July 22 and barring the first day sale, which took about 40 minutes, all its consecutive sales registered a flash sale within a few seconds after it opens at 2 pm.

Since, nobody claims to have got it in those two seconds, suspicions have been running high of fraud as online malicious elements using bots to buy online in second and later selling them at a higher price in the black market, e-bay or OLX e-retailors.

Otherwise, the Xiaomi Mi 3 is known for its rich features matching any Samsung mobile phone worth Rs.25,000 or double its price online. It runs on a tweaked version MIUI of Android 4.4 KitKat, with a 5-inch full-HD LCD display (1080×1920 pixels) offering a pixel density of 441ppi.

Powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8274AB) processor, Mi3 has 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU and an inbuilt 16 GB storage, but does not provide the expandable memory feature.

Mi3 also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash and a 2-megapixel front shooter for selfies and it is notably the first mobile phone to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset but priced below the Rs.15,000-mark.

In fact, its last week flash sale was completed within 2.4 seconds, and prior to that it was sold in 2.3 seconds, creating history in online retail marketing.

For those who are not happy with Mi3, there is another alternative the company is providing from tomorrow. Xiaomi will add its latest “Redmi 1” device priced at Rs 6,999 tomorrow on Flipkart. It sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor supported by 1GB of RAM.

Redmi 1 has 16 GB internal storage with facility for a microSD card for expansion up to 64GB, besides sporting 8MP rear camera and a 1.6MP front camera.
