While the news will be made at 10 AM today’s morning, the Chinese smartphone maker has been on a spree of price cuts, with its Redmi Note 4G price already slashed to Rs.7,999 and the Xiaomi Mi 4 (16GB variant) brought down to Rs 14,999, with Redmi 2 awaiting clearance sale with a slashed price.

The Redmi 2 priced at Rs.5,999 would mean a good bargain as it features a 4.7 inch HD IPS display at 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, powered by a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and sporting 1GB RAM and Adreno 306 GPU. The Redmi 2 also has an internal storage of 8GB, expandable up to 32 GB via micro-USB card. The cameras also feature an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera.

The upgrade in Redmi 2A is over the 1.5GHz Leadcore L1860C chipset in Redmi 2, with a quad-core Cortex A7 CPU and Mali T628MP2 GPU. Otherwise, both devices are as good and any price cut on Redmi 2 will make it one of the preferred phones in budget phones segment.
