Xiaomi Seeks to End Menace of Fake Buyers, Profiteers from Tuesday Flash Sale of Mi4, Redmi Note

The saga of flash sale on every Tuesday has tight margins for the company but nor for profiteers who book and buy it only to sell in black market at a high premium. Its Tuesday online sale saw 35,000 units sold out in less than 5 minutes and the exact time is not revealed by the company.

In fact, the trend has made an alarming revelations in the past with the Mi3 too, raising doubts whether the company is really offering the number of phones online or not. To stop the profiteers in between the company and buyer, Xiaomi has decided to restrict the time slot to lock the buy online and make payment to mere 30 minutes, thus forcing only the users ready to pay money upfront gets the phone.

Starting from today, Xiaomi has made the time slot to book and pay within half-an-hour from 2:00 Pm to 2:30 PM. Xiaomi’s India Head Manu Jain has tweeted that the sale today that consumers who are able to add the Xiaomi Mi 4 successfully at 2 PM flash sale on Flipkart will have just 30 minutes to finish the transaction or else it will be sold to others.

“Once you’ve added a Mi 4 into your cart, u will only have time till 2.30pm to check out,” he tweeted before sale opened at 2 PM today. It was a major complaint from the online buyers that the phones are being in black online in the 4-hour duration to make the payment complete. In fact, they have to just add the address of the recipient in their Flipkart sale and the phone goes to him or her directly.

Within this four-hour time period, many messages saying “I got a Xiaomi Mi3 phone, will sell for Rs.2,000 extra” and some saying they are ready to sell it just for Rs.500 to 1,000 more — surface on Twitter and Facebook.

Now that they have 30 minutes, still it makes sense to some people to manipulate the second sale within minutes but the likelihood will come down drastically, hopes Xiaomi as it is gearing up to launch its next variant of Mi 4 64 GB.

The sale today did not evoke any flash sale message from the company, though 25,000 units have been sold. Those who failed to buy should register again for the next sale on Flipkart after 6 PM today and it ends on Monday night.
