In its second week of the Redmi Note phablet online sale on Flipkart, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi will roll out 75,000 units today at 2 PM IST for registered users, whose number is known to have crossed lakhs but kept secret.
In its routine Monday tweet, the company said:”Registration for tomorrow’s Redmi Note sale will be closing at midnight tonight. Go register! RT?” with a picture attached that said 75,000 units of Redmi Note will be on sale.”
Last week’s flash sale on December 2 saw 50,000 Redmi Note units sold out in just 6 seconds, with the Xiaomi honcho Hugo Barra hitting the Twitter immediately announcing it. This time, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will reveal the time taken to sell its 75000 units online at Flipkart.
However, it had announced 10 priority passes for those who participated in its contest on Dec. 8 but it did not evoke much reaction as the number was negligible. “We are giving out 10 priority passes. RT our previous tweet, then tweet us why you want to buy your Redmi Note! Contest till end of Dec 5,” it tweeted on Monday.

Flipkart advises its potential buyers to open the website at least few hours before and then press BUY button the moment the clock touches 2:00 PM. Once the buy button is pressed, the user will see the item added to his cart and he or she will have another 4 hours to make payment anc complete the purchase process. Otherwise, Xiaomi announced on Monday that it would sell Redmi 1S smartphones online directly without any Tuesday sales as was the case till November. It tweeted: “Redmi 1S on Dec 8 – No reg. required/While stocks last.”

The Redmi Note phablet priced Rs.8,999, comes with dual-SIM support, has a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MTK6592 SoC featuring a Mali-450MP4 GPU, though on flip-side of it is that it runs on old Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 slightly tweaked for Xiaomi’s MIUI. But Xiaomi has promised to facilitate updates to the latest Android 5 Lollipop soon.
Powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MTK6592 SoC, it is coupled with a Mali-450MP4 GPU and 2GB of RAM, with a 5.5-inch 720×1280-pixel IPS LCD display screen. Its rear camera sports a 13-megapixel autofocus lens with LED flash, while the front 5-megapixel camera is good for selfies, says the company. On memory, it has 8GB in-built storage extendable up to 32GB with a microSD card slot.
Other features of the Redmi Note include GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot functions, Bluetooth 4.0, a Micro-USB port with OTG support, and A-GPS, while its 3100mAh battery is ahead of other rivals in the same range.
