Cyclone Marcia will be the talking point come Saturday as hosts and favorites Australia are all set to square off against Asian contingent Bangladesh in the Group A fixture of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Heavy thunderstorms are expected to whitewash the match and Bangladesh will certainly be more than happy with a decisive point.
Australia began their campaign in emphatic fashion defeating old rivals England by 111 runs. The performance demonstrated how dominant Australia were in all facets of the game thereby sending a warning to other sides in the tournament. The Kangaroos banked on an all out pace attack against the Poms and a similar strategy will be expected against Bangladesh as well. With Finch, Marsh and Starc coming good for the hosts in the first game, the onus will now be on the others to prove their worth. The return of Clarke too will be a great boost for them and it certainly will be interesting to see who makes way for the skipper.
Bangladesh were nothing short of solid in their opening fixture. They showed Afghanistan where they belong with a dominant 105 run victory. Despite a top order collapse, the middle order came good for the tigers along with the bowling department to set up the huge win. But Australia is a totally different ball game. Pitted against express pace, Bangladesh will be expected to crumble and that is exactly what Rahim and co will have to disprove. With Johnson, Starc and Hazelwood at the peak of their form, Bangladesh will need to see off the new ball if they stand a chance.
X Factor – Bangladesh will be desperately praying for the thunder showers. A point against Australia in the world cup will be like goldust to them and will also aid their quest to fight for a spot in the quarter final. With England have a disastrous tournament, Bangladesh might just squeeze into the 4th spot for all we know.
The ICC World Cup Match will be shown live on Star Sports 1 and Star Sports HD 1, while the live-streaming will be available on Starsports.com in the sub-continent.
Those in the UK can see it live on Sky Sports 2 which has been telecasting as Sky Sports World Cup. For live streaming, they can access Sky Go.
