Spicejet Announces ‘Re.1’ Ticket on Mobile App But With a Rider…

Spicejet has kick-started a new sale of more than 1,00,000 seats on its select domestic flights for just Re 1 (excluding taxes and fees) under a limited period offer period that that has gone viral since morning but not without a rider that the return ticket is a must and the travel should be undertaken from July 15 to March 31 next year.

Since a round-trip purchase is a must, the return ticket of the journey is at regular fare. The offer started today, Wednesday, July 15 at 10 am and is only for Spicejet app users.

When calculated, the base-fare of a normal Bangalore to New Delhi price for two way is Rs.5,954 on Spicejet and the taxes are at the rate of Rs. 50 of CUTE fee, Rs. 473 for Airline Fuel Charge, Rs. 298 for Passenger Service Fee, Rs. 1,022 for Airport Development Fee, Rs. 336 for Govt. Service Fee.

So the amount under fees and sur-charge is Rs. 2,179 and an additional Rs 249 is charged for Insurance taking the total ticket price to Rs. 8,382. This is still higher than the AirAsia round trip ticket from Bangalore to New Delhi that costs Rs.7,903 inclusive of all taxes, excluding insurance.


Last year, Spicejet kicked off surprise giving the ticket at Re.1 without making the return ticket compulsory but applying taxes. But this year, it has added the rider that oneway of the round trip is compulsory.

The sale offer – Red Hot Spicy – is only purchasable on SpiceJet’s new Mobile App for Apple iOS and Android, said Spicejet making it clear that the sale is not available through other channels.

The three-day sale will be open on July 15 at 10 AM and run till Midnight, July 17, 2015. The travel period covered in this sale is July 15, 2015 to March 31, 2016 and the promotion is only valid for two round-trip tickets per mobile. The SpiceJet App can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, using the keyword “SpiceJet”.
