Samsung Electronics unveiled its much-hyped next-generation phablet Galaxy Note 4 at its Unpacked event in Berlin on Wednesday after months of speculations. The company said that the new device will be released in October but didn’t specify the date.

As expected, Galaxy Note 4 came with several feature upgrades over its predecessor, Galaxy Note 3 but the change is too minor that fans could be left disappointed. In fact, Note 3 users, whose contracts are due to end, may have a hard time whether to go for the just unveiled phablet or opt for other brands.

Here is Galaxy Note 4 vs Galaxy Note 3 feature comparison:

Display: Both the devices have same5.7-inch screen size. The only difference being Galaxy Note 4 has a Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixels (515 ppi pixels per inch) compared to Galaxy Note 3’s Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (386 ppi pixel density).

Processor: Galaxy Note 4 is powered by 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 series processor / 1.9 GHz Octa-Core (1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad-Core) while its predecessor has a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series SoC processor, which is just a modest upgrade.

Memory and Storage: Both the devices have 3GB RAM, come with 32GB internal memory and micro SD slot up to 64GB.

Camera: Galaxy Note 4 has a 16.0MP rear camera with auto-focus and smart Optimized Image Stabilization and a 3.7MP front camera with F1.0 aperture, wide selfie and several other features. On the other hand, Galaxy Note 3 has a 13MP camera with 4128 x 3096 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, Dual Shot, Simultaneous HD video, smile detection, image stabilization and several other features.

Operating System: The latest device runs Android 4.4 KitKat, while Note 3 came with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) but it is upgradable to 4.4.2 KitKat.

Battery: Galaxy Note 4 has Li-ion 3,220mAh battery with fast charging feature. It is a negligible upgrade from Note 3’s Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery. The fact is the latest device will consume more power as it has better screen resolution and comes with more apps.

S-Pen: The new device has updated S-Pen with features like air Command (Action Memo, Smart Select, Image Clip, Screen Write), S Note, Snap Note, Direct Pen Input.

Meanwhile, Galaxy Note 4 comes with a few value-added features like Download Booster, S Health 3.5, Dynamic Lock Screen, Briefing, UV sensor, Kids mode and Private mode.
