OnePlus One Budget Variant to be Launched Today? No Cyanogen Headache ?

OnePlus is all set to launch its next smartphone OnePlus Two or OnePlus One Light today in few hours of time but speculations are going high on what it could be.

The invite from OnePlus merely says the date should be marked for the event but droidPile said it could be launching a successor to OnePlus One without Cyanogen strap but new Oxygen OS of the company.

Several tweets on its Oxygen OS are making headways, while the expected event on April 20 is still to unveil what’s behind the curtain.

The latest reports said OnePlus will launch its successor to OnePlus One but it will not be OnePlus two as speculated but “OnePlus One Lite”, perhaps a budget model bringing down the price in countries like India where the budget phones sell more than 70% of the total smartphones every year.

Another report said the new phone will be available only be invite and the user has to go through the vexed process of pre-registration for invite and wait for it before making the purchase online.

The company’s invite with OnePlus Logo reads: “APRIL 20 You’re invited!” followed by a cryptic phrase which reads, “From here on out, anything could happen,” with a hash-tag #NeverSettle.

In another tweet that followed, it said, “April 20. Can you guess what’s happening? #NeverSettle,” leading many to believe that it could be the OnePlus Two smartphone, while others believe it could be named OnePlus One Lite with stripped down version and priced in the range of Rs.12,000, making it light in terms of price and affordability in markets like India and Indonesia.

OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei, recently said that the next generation of OnePlus smartphone will be unveiled in the second half of 2015, which leaves scope for a budget version of ‘OnePlus One Lite’ more likely.
