Nagarjuna Upset Over Cancellation of Italy Wedding of Son Akhil Akkineni

It was on the cards for over two years that Akhil Akkineni and industrilist GVK Reddy’s granddaughter Shriya Bhupal will tie knot and the engagement in December was an event in Hyderabad for many while guests had already booked flight tickets to Rome for the grand marriage.

But the marriage of convenience between the two industrialists’ families turned sour suddenly and on February 18, the word was out that the marriage had been cancelled. While the media is scouting for a possible reason, father Akkineni Nagarjuna has reportedly locked himself up indoors, depressed by the developments, reported media.

Despite their age difference, Akhil (22) and Shriya (26) were talk of the town much before his elder brother Naga Chaitanya, already an established Telugu actor, announced and married his co-star Samantha.

Akhil has recently acted in the film named after him " Akhil" that had a good story but failed to muster impressive box office collections. Shriya Bhupal is a costume designer and also worked with top Bollywood names such as Kajal Agarwal, Shriya Saran, Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

The much-publicised marriage in Italy was finally called off on Saturday, February 18 and the guests were told to cancel their air tickets and no reason was given, said NewIndian Express quoting unnamed sources. "Those who were about to book tickets were advised not to go ahead. Even the tickets booked by both families have been cancelled,” said the report quoting the source.

About 700 guests were getting ready to fly to Rome for the destination wedding which was slated to see top industrialists, big Bollywood names including Amitabh Bachchan, top southern film personalities including Rajinikanth. Several hotels and resorts were booked but had been cancelled at the "last minute", said reports.
