Movie Review: Mahesh Babu’s ‘Aagadu’ Never Stops as Box Office Bust is Long Due

MF Monitor Rating: ****

Cast: Mahesh Babu, Tamannah, Sonu Sood, Nasser, Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad.

Director: Sreenu Vaitla

Mahesh Babu-starrer “Aagadu” released on Friday in combination with director Sreenu Vaitla, is another pure masala movie featuring the hero in a police officer’s uniform like Pokiri or replicating some scenes from his next hit “Dookudu”.

The heroine Tamannaah played her role to full though it was out and out Mahesh Babu movie. Other regulars in the film include Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad, Sonu Sood and Nassar.

Shankar (Mahesh Babu) goes to Bukkapatnam as Circle Inspector to deal with don Damodar (Sonu Sood) and destroys his illegal businesses and addas but runs into another side of his life story that the same Damodar was responsible for his family’s biggest loss and never stops to chase the villain till he succumbs.

A typical Sreenu Vaitla film but as the director is known for his non-stop scenes to keep the audience thrilled throughout the film, so is “Aagadu” which keeps Mahesh Babu virtually running after the don or his lady love. Though Tamannah excelled in her village girl’s role, it was Shruti Haasan who stole the show with her only item song and charming the audience with her hip dance.

Brahmanandam’s comedy, Sonu Sood’s action, Nassar’s style is average and as expected while Vennela Kishore, Posani Krishna Murali, Rajendra Prasad and Ashish Vidhyarthi have done justice to their roles.

“Aagadu” is likely to get big box office collections as the initial reports show that the theatres are fully packed to 100% in almost all 1000 screens it was released today. It remains to be seen whether the film will exceed the box office record of previous Mahesh Babu film “Dookudu” will be crossed this time or not.
