Micromax is offering 10,000 Yu Yureka smartphones on Tuesday for sale and the devices running on Cyanogen OS 11 have already captured the enthusiasm of the smartphone buyers after the row between Micromax and OnePlus from China.
Micromax’s Yu Televentures is offering its Yureka smartphones via Amazon India on January 13 onwards and the company said the sale will begin on Tuesday at 2 PM, replacing the aura around Xiaomi phones on every Tuesday.
Announcing the early closure of registrations for the first sale of its Yureka smartphone, due to the “overwhelming response” received, he said, “We saw unprecedented response with over three lakh registrations. Registrations were to be open till December 25. However, owing to the mega response they had to be closed a day earlier.”
Sharma also added that the company is working to ramp up the device further. “We are working on ramping our capacities. Given the kind of enthusiasm that we have seen, we will increase the number of units put out for sale gradually,” he said.
The Yu Yureka is a rival to OnePlus from China that was introduced in the country last year. Micromax’s Yu Yureka, with a price tag of Rs.8,999, sports 4G LTE connectivity with a 5.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3, a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 SoC (MSM8939), besdies 2GB of RAM.
It has a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS sensor rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and flash and a front-facing 5-megapixel fixed-focus camera for selfies. The Yu Yureka phone has 16GB of inbuilt memory expandable up to 32 GB with microSD card. On batttery front, the phone, however, has merely a 2500mAh Li-Po battery, while OnePlus One comes with 3100mAh battery.
In comparison, OnePlus is priced Rs.23,000 sporting a 5.5-inch display with a high resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Both smartphones run on Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4.4 but Micromax’s Yureka will get the Android Lollipop OS updates of Cyanogen, which OnePlus One may not get in India.
