‘Masti Gudi’ tragic climax scene shocks Kannada film industry, RIP messages pour in

The climax scene for Kannada film “Masti Gudi” was just entering its last ten days when the fatal helicopter jump took away the lives of stuntmen Raghava Uday and Anil, though the lead actor Vijay swam across the reservoir safely.

Directed by Nagashekhar and produced by Sundar P Gowdru, the thriller action film has Amulya and Kriti Kharbanda in lead female roles. The film’s cameraman is Sathya Hegde and music director is Sadhu Kokila.

The film has six “important fights and the climax fight has Vijay’s stunts,” said the producer just before the climax stunt. A few TV channels were present at the venue interviewing lead actors and stuntmen before and unfortunately they could not imagine that they were to capture their death too alive.

In fact, Uday told Public TV, “I am not an expert in swimming, but have little ability to reach the shores safely.” He did not and was drowned in the water.

Uday was a budding actor mostly seen in negative roles in Puneeth Rajkumar’s “Dodmane Hudga”, Ramya’s “Nagarahavu” and Yash’s “Santu Straight Forward”. He had acted with Duniya Vijay in their earlier movie “Jayammana Maga”. He played in Telugu film “Sapthagiri Express” too.

Anil was the president of Duniya Vijay’s fans’ association and a body builder, playing in supporting roles in Vijay’s films.

Kannada film industry veterans were shocked and many of them expressed shock and grief at the accident. Here are some of the messages:

Sudeepa: “Very upsetting to hear that demise of Anil and Uday.. Anil worked with me in Hebbuli..Silent and a very hard worker.. really sad. RIP”

Ganesh: “I am really shocked, extremely broken… can’t believe this, my god! how can this happen,RIP Anil and Uday”

Parimala Jaggesh: “Anil & Uday; such wonderful human beings. My son Yathi’s friends. Such sweethearts; no longer alive? Fact is not sinking. Life Ishtena ???”

Rakshit Shetty: “A very sad day for all of us. Nothing is important than life. Even a smallest stunt, before being performed, needs lot of training and lots of safety measures with backups… Anil and Uday, may your soul rest in peace.”
