Manmohan Singh Knew of 2G Scam, Coal scams: blames Ex-CAG Vinod Rai

Former Comptroller Auditor General of India Vinod Rai alleges that the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was aware about the 2G spectrums and coal block scams.
Vinod Rai said that Congress MPs Sanjay Nirupam, Ashwini Kumar and Sandeep Dikshit put pressure on him not to reveal the name of PM Manmohan Singh on 2G spectrum and coal block scams. He said, “CAG informed then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee about the transgression in coal block allocations. Pranab Mukherjee acted immediately and cautioned Manmohan Singh but he remained silent.”
Rai was asked that while many admire Singh as an elderly statesman, what was his understanding of PM’s psychology and he replied, "You cannot have the nation being subjugated to the state and the state being a coalition of political parties. The belief was that good politics makes good economics too. But does good politics mean just staying in power?" Rai also criticised Manmohan Singh knew that coal allocations led to lobbying and should have taken the route of auction but he did not interfere in the matter.
Rai said that integrity is not just financial but intellectual and professional too. Writing a book on his days as head of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), he said that, his phone was tapped by the then UPA government and he felt Singh was part of the decisions to allocate 2G telecom spectrum on first-cum-first serve basis and coal blocks without auction.
He revealed that Singh was "overawed by the compulsions of coalition politics" and UPA’s response to scams was "tempered by politics". He had also accused the government while talking about the Common Wealth Games scam, for allowing non-governmental body such as Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to spend money.
The criticisms raised by Vinod Rai paves way for serious allegations on UPA government and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The revelations claim that Prime Minister was involved in the scams and questions the silence of him as he was well aware of the truth. His silence shows that he had no hold on his ministers and Rai said that not only Congress but its ally party NCP was also involved in misdeed of government.
