‘Manam’ Smash Hit in USA, Box Office Collection $1.4 million

manam_3In two weeks after its release in the USA market, Telugu film ‘Manam’ by the Akkineni family is a big hit overseas with box office collections touching $1.5 million.

In 15 days after the release, ‘Manam, grossed Rs.54.4 crore worldwide, according to unconfirmed reports. But the USA market is robust with collections reaching $1,412,302 as of Thursday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted saying the film is a “Smash hit in USA.” Here’s how he listed the box office earnings of ‘Manam’ that was made with a budget of Rs.15 crore featuring the three generations of the Akkineni family and was the last film by Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), a legendary Telugu actor who finished the film from his death bed in the hospital.

The film began on a slow start at about Rs.7 crore on its opening day (May 23) but began to attract more viewers mainly due to the word of mouth crossing Rs.50-crore mark as of Friday, June 7 and is certain to cross Rs.60 crore in the first month.

The film has touched the chord of every Telugu family with the current generation getting the lesson that they owe a lot to their parents and given that knowledge that their late parents were reborn and in their midst makes the film more interesting and catchy.

With super direction by Vikram Kumar, the film features ANR’s son Nagarjuna and his grandson Naga Chaitanya with a climax that featured another grandson Akhil, who is all set to make a big entry into the Telugu film industry next year.
