The KBC reality show that began 15 years ago in 1999 was first aired on Star TV and then moved to Sony. Of all the shows, only one was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan but the limelight remained with the megastar as ever.

However, the show that enjoyed pan-Indian audience for over a decade began to filter out non-Hindi speaking South Indian and Northeastern states, making the show less popular.

The show in 2013 was able to scratch through but the overall TRP ratings were down drastically as transparency was not maintained in the selection of contestants and too many episodes were sold to advertisers or turned into special shows for upcoming movies.

The KBC, based on similar show in the UK “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”. The show made inroads into regional languages — Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi and Bhojpuri.

Recent reports said in Telugu, Akkineni Nagarjuna would be roped in to host the show soon but no confirmation has been issued so far from the synergy, producers of the show in India.
