Karnataka will witness yet another bandh on September 5, Saturday and this time the bandh has been called by the sugarcane growers association to protest against Karnataka government and Narendra Modi government for showing indifferent attitude towards the problems of farmers.
The Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association and the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene groups represents farmers of the state, their main demand is more in the aspect of waiving off crop loans and pressurizing government to look seriously at the matter of farmer suicides.
They also demanded the central and state governments to announce a Vidarbha-type of package of Rs. 10,000 crore to protect farming industry.
However, the senior members of the groups informed that the bandh would not involve any political parties but other social oraganisations may take part. If political parties are not taking part, then it is expected that the bandh won’t be effective as the recent one.
