Japan has offered to help India in developing Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) for its urban transportation, which is often crippled by inadequate infrastructure.
India and Japan have already identified areas of cooperation in urban development sector at the end of the day long meeting of the India-Japan Joint Working Group, that concluded recently in Delhi.
Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Toursim will assist in developing ITS architecture, capacity development in respect of ITS besides in developing Ring Roads of major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, among others.
Another feature of urban planning also includes construction of earthquake-proof construction technology.
India has sought sharing information on sewage networks including water reuse and continued sharing of experiences in the field of urban transport.
The 9th meeting of the India-Japan Joint Working Group on Urban Development will be held in Japan next year.
