With barely 2 wins in 11 matches, the Delhi team under Kevin Pietersen have lost six games without putting up a fight. Pietersen, who was bought by Delhi for 9 crore in the auction, has failed to deliver the results for the GMR-owned franchise. Barring Jean-Paul Duminy, no Delhi batsman has managed to make a mark and the top-order batsmen Quinton De Kock, Pietersen, Mayank Agarwal and Dinesh Karthik have failed miserably to lift the spirit at Delhi. Coupled with poor batting, the Delhi team was let them down by the bowling department led by pacer Mohammad Shami.
But the Kings XI Punjab proved real warriors in the season with a dream run in this season with Glenn Maxwell leading the victory procession. The solid Punjab batting order has chased down 200+ scores twice in the edition and are seen on par with the Chennai Super Kings. The RR team owned by Preity Zinta firm has a clear advantage over Delhi with a 7-5 advantage.
South African left-hander Miller is seen in the top-4 chart with three half-centuries but the collective effort led the team to what it has been today. Medium-pacer Sandeep Sharma, left-arm spinner Akshar Patel and all-rounder Rishi Dhawan are noteworthy players and the Patiala-born Sandeep, bagging 14 wickets in eight matches, is among the top-10 bowlers.
Kings XI Punjab have extended their win-loss record against the Delhi Daredevils to 7-5.
Kings XI Punjab have been the most prolific at picking up runs through boundaries; they have scored 61.7 percent of their runs through hits to and over the fence this season.
The Delhi Daredevils have picked up the fewest wickets among all the teams this season – 40.
Prediction: Delhi will lose but it remains how far they fight it out in true sportsman spirit today.
