After getting swept by Bangladesh and sweeping Zimbabwe, Indian cricket team is all set to tour Sri Lanka starting from earlier next month.

According to PTI, BCCI is scheduled to meet on July 23 in Delhi to select the team that goes for a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka.

Both India and Sri Lanka are currently busy with their respective series against Zimbabwe and Pakistan, which will end on July 19 and August 1, respectively.

A-class players like Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan who didn’t make it to the ODI series against Zimbabwe will be hoping to get a chance in the team.

Although, India suffered an unfortunate and shameful loss in the hands of the inspired Bangladesh team not much is assumed to be changed in the team for the Sri Lankan tour.

Senior players, most significantly Harbhajan Singh might have a tiny possibility of getting benched after the veteran produced poor performance in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, managing to gather only four wickets. However, he can’t be ruled out based on his ODI performance because he was one of the rarest Indian players who produced a great show against Bangladesh in the Test as well as ODI series.

Nevertheless, considering the senior players have been playing too much lately starting from the test earlier in the year, they might just be benched for good.

Young guns like Ajinkya Rahane, under whose captaincy India won the ODI series against Zimbabwe, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Ambati Rayadu, Varun Aaron, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Umesh Yadav will also be expected to contribute in the team’s performance and probable win against the home team.

The senior players who will get selected will certainly be hoping to get massive boost up by captain Virat Kohli who before the commencement of the one-off  Test match against Bangaldesh expressed his desire to see Indian team ruling the sport for at least the next five and six years.

Ravichandran Ashwin will be expected to continue his superb form that he left at in the Bangladesh series.

Before the test series starts, India will play a three-day warm up match against Sri Lanka Chairman’s XI at the Premadasa Stadium.

August 12 – 16 – 1st Test at Galle

August 20 – 24 – 2nd Test at Colombo

August 28 – September 1 – 3rd Test at Colombo.
