Hyderabad’s ELFU Journalism Student Gang-Raped, 2 Arrested

A woman student of prestigious English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) in Hyderabad alleged that she was raped by a fellow student and a former student in the boys hostel inside the university campus, police said on Sunday.

Police arrested the accused student and the former student following an FIR filed by the 23-year-old student in which she stated that she was raped in boys’ hostel on the night of Oct 31.

In her complaint lodged with Osmania University police station, the victim alleged that she was intoxicated and raped by the two accused in hostel room of Nitin Solasundaram, who was identified by the police and arrested along with his friend and former student Raj Simha.

While 21-year-old Nitin is a post-graduate student of journalism, Raj Simha (24) is a former student of the university. Both the accused hail from Andhra Pradesh.

The victim, who was sent for medical examination, told police that the accused intoxicated and raped her during a party. Police said she did not approach them immediately after the incident as she was traumatized. However, supported by her fellow students, she lodged a complaint  on Sunday.
