The film ‘Humshakals’ will be released tomorrow, Friday, June 20, 2014 in 525 screens in 40 countries. With no other major film being released on the same day, Sajid’s film should get initial high occupancy rate at 60 % and more and the word of mouth should make the film get full viewership in all the theatres.
The film, a unique comedy centered around three people who each have a lookalike of a lookalike, all with the same name, features Saif Ali Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor and in the female lead, Tamannah, Esha Gupta took away the cake, leaving behind Bipasha sulking.
Director Sajid Khan, who had made the media mourn for two minutes over his last flop film ‘Himmatwala’ said Bipasha Basu was not promoting the film ‘Humshakals’ as it is not about her and in the past too, she has not promoted films like ‘Players’, ‘All The Best’. “I think the last film she promoted was ‘Aatma’ because the film was about her,” Sajid said wryly.
Soon Bipasha Basu retorted saying she was disturbed after seeing the “end result of the film”. “In these circumstances I didn’t know how to promote a film with all honesty and that’s why I thought it was better to stay away,” Bipasha said in her tweet.
She wrote: “In these circumstances I didn’t know how to promote a film with all honesty and that’s why I thought it was better to stay away. I am confident that the film will be true to its genre and will be a full entertainer because of the people involved. I wish fox star studios who I have had my biggest hit with Raaz 3 and Vashu ji who is a fantastic producer all the best. Wish all my co stars Saif, Riteish, Tamannah, Esha and the technicians best of luck. Sometimes, certain journeys cannot be completed and this is one of them – no one to be blamed, combination of things that made me disrupt my journey.”
Sajid says he is not concerned about box office but be happy to leave behind a good impression about the film. “I am not concerned about how much money it will make. I think when the going is good everyone will accept whatever you do. People know Sajid Khan’s films as comic capers which make them laugh. They expect a comedy film from me and now I will give them only what they want,” he said.
Otherwise, Bipasha was reportedly paid higher than the other two female leads in the film and promised an exclusive promo along with Saif Ali Khan. However, by keeping away from the promotion, Bipasha has helped Sajid get the media attention more than he expected for the film, which may give the initial push for occupancy at the screens.
