Harsh Vardhan Gives Ayurveda Special Focus Despite Uproar in All AIIMS

The nearly dozen upcoming All India Institutes of Medical Sciences across the country will have “huge” departments of alternative medicine with a special focus on ayurveda, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said Friday.

“We want to ensure that ayurveda gets proper recognition in modern day science,” Harsh Vardhan said at the 6th All India Congress on ayurveda here.

He said: “We will create huge departments of ayush in the dozen All India Institutes of Medical Sciences which are coming up for holistic development of medicine.”

He said ayurveda has given to the world most of the things which modern medicine has given much later. The minister added: “Our government is fully committed to giving ayurveda its best place since independence.”

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who was also present, said there are numerous methods in ayurveda but these have not been tapped properly. She said: “At present, we are exporting more raw material than finished drugs and goods.”

Mahajan said there is a need to ensure a comprehensive quality control mechanism as far as ayurvedic drugs are concerned.

  1. Ayurveda is the best way of treatment. One should live according to ayurveda teaching and guaranteed never get any problem or disease.
    Thank u harshvardan sir

  2. Its Good That Government is Thinking about Ayurveda nd AYUSH but government should make it sure that ppl in Name Of AYUSH should only practice their things and not providing Allopathic Medicine in powder form. One More thing Gov. want to give Power to Do MTP(medical Termination of pregnancy- Abortion) to these AYUSH ppl who doesnt know how to Diagnose Ectopic pregnancy and all doesnot have knowledge of Blood Transfusion or Septic Schock or Hypovolemic Shock Management. So if they given power to do so poor Indian females are left on mercy of these untrained ppl.I ask MR Harshvardh

  3. Great !!! Allopathic medicine only supports the western world business……Indian system of medicine i,e Ayurveda is the best health & wellness option for the whole world . Allopathic should be utilised only for emergency medicine & critical care .
