The UGET COMEDK 2017 rank cards are available on its official website and the registration process for online counselling will start shortly, according to a flash posted on the official website today, Thursday, June 8, 2017. It means the process will begin tomorrow online followed by personal counselling process with the mock allotments to be made known by June 16.
The planned online counselling this year has been rescheduled to the second week of June now from the initially scheduled date of June 21 in view of the request from the students and parents and the state education minister’s intervention. As KCET counselling is already into its fifth day, students are clear about their chance of getting a government quota seat in top colleges.
Their anxiety is up in view of the delay in COMEDK counselling and now the engineering entrance exam body for private colleges may begin its online counselling from Friday, June 9, 2017. Even colleges are likely to inform the COMEDK about the seat matrix now.[To check 2016 cutoff rank for colleges under COMEDK, click here.]
For online counselling, students have to pay Rs.5,000, which will be adjusted later as part of the first term fee. The online counselling session of COMEDK will provide students to give their options of engineering colleges and in combinations as well. A mock allotment of seats will be done and the students are given a choice to change their options. After finalisation of this process, real allotment of seats will be made.
The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K) will hold the actual counselling (personal, not online) later this month but S. Kumar, executive secretary of COMEDK said, “We will ensure that we make up for the delay by announcing the mock allotment of seats on June 16, while the real allotment will be on June 21,” as quoted by The Hindu.
As per the current seat matrix, 45% of seats in private colleges are given under the government quota on the payment of about Rs.50,000 as fee, 30% seats are part of COMEDK quota given under Rs.180,000 per annum fee and the remaining 25%, including the NRI quota, are given by the respective managements on payment of Rs.10 to Rs.30 lakhs depending on their reputation and demand.
The problem faced by many students is over the allotment of seats before the K-CET seats are given. Many times, students are forced to forego an allotted seat under KCET and opt for ComedK seat or vice versa depending on the college reputation.
Currently KCET counselling is underway since June 5, 2017 and the full schedule is here:
