Bobby Jindal Announces Race, Indian Community Ridicules

Bobby Jindal

With the US Presidential race getting into heat, Indian-American governor of Louisiana said he would be running for the top post of the country.

“My name is Bobby Jindal. I am Governor of the great state of Louisiana, and I’m running to be President of the greatest country in the world, the United States of America!” said Bobby Jindal thumping his hands and setting his sight on the US voter in the race to the White House.

Jindal, who prefers to be only ‘American’, not Indian-American, said, “We’re not hyphenated Americans any more. We’re not African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Indian-Americans or rich and poor Americans,” giving the first taste of his preference to American votes than Indian-American votes.

Taking a shot at President Barack Obama for “trying to divide” people on the basis of gender, race, geography, and religion, he wished to be neutral but the remarks have already upset the rich Indian repatriates.

Soon a twitter handle #BobbyJindalIsSoWhite, created by Hari Kondabolu, has gone viral ridiculing his remarks. “Starting #bobbyjindalissowhite may be the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Good night, everyone,” said Koondabolu before signing off from his account @harikondabolu.

Here are some of them:

“Piyush Becomes Bobby Hindu Became Catholic Indian Became American Chameleon Became Presidential Candidate,” writes Dr. Seetesh Pande (@SeeteshPande), while Sankrant Sanu says, “#BobbyJindalIsSoWhite he believed he “exorcised demons” using the Bible and Cross from a girl in college.”

Another writes, “Yami Gautam looks like Ashutosh in front of him.”

“Tanned? I think that’s your heritage struggling to get out, sir!”, writes Seema Goswami (@seemagoswami).
#bobbyjindalissowhite that he calls his parents by their first names — Hari Kondabolu (@harikondabolu)

“no, calling Uncle Piyush out for making a career of willfully ignoring his heritage is not racist.”, says — Raj Palsingh (@HipsterYogi).

“#Jindian a new word in the dictionary. An Indian who is ashamed of his Indian identity”, writes Parnad frankly speaking about the whole brohaha on his refusal to be identified as Indian-American.

“U might be a #Jindian if u r the son of immigrants who is anti-immigrant,” says Aasif mandvi (@aasif).

“#bobbyjindalissowhite he is not a naturalized citizen but a pasteurized one,” — aleefbaypay (@aleefbaypay).

On Twitter, the handle #BobbyJindalisSoWhite is trending now, triggering jokes about his candidature to the White House.
