Three hours after the Church Street blast at 8:30 PM on Sunday evening, the woman who was injured in head and rushed to Mallya hospital nearby died, according to hospital sources and her name was given by the police as Bhavani. Two others were also rushed to the Mallya Hospital where they are being treated.
Meanwhile, Bangalore Police Commissioner M N Reddi, who reached the spot said all the police inspectors were put on alert and sought the public not to spread rumours or believe any social media rumours about more such blasts in the city. The Union Minister and former state CM DV Sadananda Gowda was present at the Church Street soon after the bomb blast.
Police have twoed away all the vehicles on the Church Street and cordoned off the area and began to probe for clues. The bomb, described as low-intensity explosive was placed outside the Coconut Groove restaurant that is known for its Kerala cuisine.
The state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who was away at Mysore rushed to the capital while the state home minister K Geoge too rushed back from Mumbai on hearing the news.
