Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari to Hold BJP-Shiv Sena Seat Sharing Talk

BJP President Amit Shah will meet Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and hold a seat-sharing talk between with the party leaders on Wednesday. The seat sharing issue is connected to Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra for the upcoming assembly polls.
While the talks have been stuck over the number of seats to be contested by the parties over past months, Shah is expected to take a final decision on seat-sharing in the meeting.
On Monday, while BJP demanded to contest in 135 seats in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena had rejected the demand under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray. Following BJP’s poor performance in the assembly bypolls election held across 10 states would pave way for Shiv Sena to pressurise its alliance partner that has declared that victory of NDA in 2014 General Elections has took place not only because of Modi wave.
A Shiv Sena leader said, “Now, the BJP should take a lesson from the today’s by-poll results. It should understand that the assembly elections are different from Lok Sabha elections. The Modi factor will not work during the assembly elections and BJP leaders should accept this ground reality.”
According to the reports, Shiv Sena is not only ready to accept the BJP’s demand for equal seat sharing but also claims that the chief minister should be from the Shiv Sena. "The issues over the seat sharing arrive before every election. There is nothing new in it. We are hoping that it will be sorted out in next 2-3 days," said a senior BJP leader.
While Thackeray has made it clear that the chief minister will be from his party if Sena-BJP alliance comes to power, one of the political analysts said that it seems Sena has gotten a golden opportunity to corner the BJP and Sena will question the Modi wave, saying that by-poll results have proved their views. He said that the Sena is now in a stronger position and the BJP will have to accept whatever Sena offers.
