As announced earlier, the third Chinese major smartphone maker OnePlus has opened online sale of its latest smartphone OnePlus One on e-retailer Amazon India. As Xiaomi has chosen Flipkart as its exclusive online partner, OnePlus has partnered with Amazon India and their first mobile phone is available from Friday.
Aping the Xiaomi strategy, OnePlus has introduced “Invite Only” procedure to buy the phone online and its official launch is still to launch the phone officially in India. Otherwise, the procedure has been made too clumsy and burdensome for buyers through “the invite only” process. Once the invite is received, buyers will have two days only or 48 hours to buy the device.
Though the price is still kept under wraps, it is somewhere in the range of Rs.25,000, according to some unconfirmed reports. Other reports suggest that the device will be delivered from December 2 onwards, coinciding the online slae of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note sale on Flipkart.
To get the invite, the user has to first subscribe to the OnePlus One newsletter and then enter contests and events hosted by the company in India or on Amazon India.
Once the user receives the invite, he has to click the unique link and register with his OnePlus One account to see the invite. On that, the user has to click on “BUY” button to purchase the device on Amazon.in.
On Amazon site, the user should select the item under ‘Sandstone Black’ and enter his or her invite code on the product page and proceed to checkout. If the device is not bought within 48 hours, then the user has to go through the entire process of regenerating the invite again.
Otherwise, the OnePlus One features include 5.5″ display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution, with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and adaptive backlit technology for sharp display. It has 3GB of RAM, unlike many smartphones which have 2GB maximum currently. It sports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with a quad-core processor at 2.5GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. It works on Android 4.4 KitKat version.
OnePlus One has a 13-megapixel rear IMX214 sensor with a six-lens array and f/2.0 aperture of quick shutter speed of 0.3-seconds. The second camera is a 5-megapixel front-facing one, good for selfies. It come in 16 GB or 64 B version and there is no slot for microSD card.
From connectivity front, it sports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The battery is non-removable at 3,100mAh capacity.
