Ajay Devgn Happy with Response to ‘Drishyam’ @ Rs.34 Crore in 4 Days

‘Drishyam’ managed to earn Rs 34 crore in 4 days, and the unexpected commercial success out of a family drama has made Ajay Devgn happy.

Directed by Nishikant Kamat, ‘Drishyam’ was released on Friday, July 31 also starring Tabu and Shriya Saran in lead roles. The success of a family-centric suspense drama was attributed mainly to the good word of mouth as collections picked up slowly this week.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after watching ‘Drishyam’ took micro-blogging site Twitter and said that Ajay Devgn’s latest film is a “must watch”.

Ajay Devgn also said that he is very satisfied with the response that ‘Drishyam’ is getting, one of the rare films that gets you collections as well as respect as an actor.

Taran Adarsh, Film trade analyst, tweeted about the film’s business.

Drishyam is a remake of 2013 Malayalam movie with the same name, which starred Mohan Lal. The film was made in Telugu with Venkatesh in the lead role and in Tamil with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Bother version were well received.

The film describes how a middle-class husband and father of a teenager girl goes on to rescue his family from the misdeeds of a police officer’s son and the entire family withstands the police torture and finally he wins the battle against the powerful people in our society.
