Ahmedabad gets set to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping

Ahmedabad is all set to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping for his three-day visit in the country. To receive the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived to his home town on Monday, which is his first visit to his home town after being the PM.
During the six hour visit in the state, Jinping will be received in red carpet, welcoming with Gujarati culture and cuisine. Ministers Saurabh Patel and Nitin Patel from Gujarat have been tasked with attending the President. Modi is expected to host a private dinner and meeting with Jinping at Sabarmati Riverfront, a project close to his heart.
Apart from bilateral issues, trade and investments will become topics for discussion in the meeting between Modi and Jinping. Modi has mentioned that the India-China ties as going "beyond plain arithmetic".
The External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said that all substantive issues which have a bearing on India-China relations will be discussed between Modi and Jinping.
This is the first time an official begins his visit not from New Delhi but from the commercial capital of Gujarat. On Thursday, Xi is scheduled to deliver a keynote address under the auspices of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).
When asked how Modi foresees India and China relations developing, he said: "Our relations go beyond plain arithmetic. They have a unique chemistry that can make for a defining moment." Modi and Xi have met earlier, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Brazil in July.
Modi said, "Every inch we cover can rewrite the history of humanity and every mile we cross will go a long way in making this planet a better place." Hoping that together India and China cover several such miles, Modi said these miles will not only take the two nations forward but also all of Asia and humankind on the path of progress and harmony.
