10 Record Takeaways From Rajamouli’s Magnum Opus ‘Bahubali: The Conclusion’

Like ‘Bahubali: The Beginning’, SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ has smashed all records becoming the highest grosser in Indian Film Industry and captivating the imagination of people and its crew alike.

In just 9 days of its release on April 28, 2017, almost 21 months after its first part’s release, the film has marvelled at the box office, technical superiority and cross-cultural integration of the country and overseas.

  1. With Rs.925 crore in box office collections worldwide, the movie has set Indian film industry’s sights on par with Hollywood and not mere Bollywood or Tollywood. It has joined the Rs.100-crore club on its very first day crusing above Rs.124 crore in collections.
  2. Released in 9000 screens worldwide, with 95% occupancy and topped the advance booking record of BookMyShow surpassing the previous record of ‘dangal’.

  3. Besides hindi, its Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions grossed Rs.80 crore on its opening day smashing all the domestic records, whether in India or abroad.

  4. First Indian film to top Thursday night preview charts in America with box-office collections touching $2.5 million, far above than Hollywood hits like Fate of the Furious ($1.9 million), Beauty and the Beast ($661K) and Boss’s Baby ($562K).

  5. Stunning second day collection of above Rs.102 crore, making it the fastest film to make such huge money that took one week for any other Bollywood hit film. Even in the US, it remained on top for the second day minting Rs50 crore or $8.16 million.

  6. First film to rake in Rs.526 crore in its first week of release or the opening week collections, in Hindi too remained the highest grosser ever for Hindi film or a dubbing film in Hindi belt. In Malayalam, it remained the highest non-Malayalam movie to make the highest collections.

  7. In North America, Bahubali 2 remained the top film to cross $10 million at the US box-office on its opening weekend, even leaving behind Hollywood flicks far below the charts. It reached $12.6 million in 6 days.

  8. Fastest film to make Rs.625 crore in just 4 days in the worldwide market and on day 5, it made Rs.710 crore, surpassing Aamir Khan’s Dangal.

  9. In 9 days, the film raked in rs.925 crore, surpassing Dangal record last year and PK record last before year.

  10. With Day 10 being a Sunday, theatres are still reporting 70% occupancy and the revenues are prjected to cross Rs.1000 crore mark, making it the fastest money-making film ever in Indian history and joining big Hollywood films in the category.
